MEDITERRANEAN BLUE

We learned a lot on this project, but one of the biggest things we love is that we can spell Mediterranean right!

About The Project
Generations of Brilliance in a Pita

Owners Bob and Gail Givoglu came to us with an idea and business model that has proven success tiime and time again. They set out to start a quick-serve Greek restaurant with generations of the most amazing recipes you have ever tasted. When they came to us with the idea we couldn't resist jumping in. Only one creative request was made. "We are Greek... Don't make us look like My Big Fat Greek Wedding."

We had never seen the movie, but after watching it we knew what they wanted to stay away from. The brand needed to reflect the artistry and care that went into each dish served. Bob and Gail built the restaurant with their parent's recipes so a nod to old Greece was needed without feeling dated.

Inspiration
Pleasant imperfections

The Mediterranean Blue brand was developed with a combination of hand drawn elements and clean typography. We chose to draw some elements by hand to mirror the hand-made processes used in the kitchen at Med-Blue. The cleanlines of some elements alluded to the simplicity of the recipes. We chose typefaces that had stood the test of time; just like the recipes that had been passed down for generations.

Each piece developed for Mediterranean Blue was created to create almost tactile visuals in order to go the extra mile. Bob and Gail understood that their brand was being scrutinized before anyone walked through the door and they wanted every customer to feel their love for food in everything they did. Typical greek colors are cool and unappetizing so we designed with offshoots of "standard" greek color schemes to bring a warm tone to ordinarily cool colors.

We love this brand and had so much fun working on a true Orlando icon. The restaurant will be missed and so will the amazing food.
